I am in form II at Thomas Saunders High in St.Vincent and my family lives on Bequia island which is part of the Grenadines. With interest I read your report on Iguana research in Dominica. We have actually spend a holiday there in July and have also encountered Iguanas.
However, fortunately there are still numerous Iguanas, mostly bright green, on our island, in spite that people here like to eat them and are not aware that these magnificent lizards should be protected.

Same goes with the 'landturtles' and especially with hawkbill sea turtles. As a tourist attraction, hundreds of the latter are being kept in small basins by a businessman under deplorable conditions. Scientists have spoken out against this so-called turtle sanctuary and the Government knows but declines to do anything.

Congrats to your good work, Laurin Schaedle
