hi, i have read your articles about the bear cubs and im excited. The zoo in my state actually has a sun bear (malayan i believe..) and i have always loved them. I am taking a trip to the san diego zoo at the end of march and i was wondering if the bears would be out to see by then? thank you!

Congratulations to Marcella for her healthy son and daughter. Your blog describes a wonderful, gentle and attentive mother. I enjoyed reading how Marcella assists her cubs to go up the stairs for their naps in the den. She sounds like a patient Mom, too, tolerating the loud crying from her demanding son. Generous, too, sharing her food with her curious cubs.

Please give Marcella all the food she needs to keep her cubs growing and herself healthy. Whatta Mom!

Thank you for the great blog.

Hi Suzanne – What wonderful news. This is perfect – one of each. :-) They sound like two very inquisitive and precocious bears. I believe that Marcella is definitely going to have her “paws” full as the twins begin exploring.

In reading your account, it looks like the little female is going have the dominant personality - only time will tell. By the way Suzanne, do you have a list of possible names picked out yet for these adorable twins?

I am looking forward to future blogs on the twin’s progress and their debut sometime in the spring or sooner. Thank you.

Thanks for the update, Suzanne. Many of us "regulars" have been waiting, more or less patiently, for more information about Marcella's cubs. We can't wait to see their debut a few months down the road. In the meantime, could you give us updates about Bulan and Danum in their respective new homes? We'd all love to know how they are responding to their new homes and environments. Thanks so much!

YIPEE!! Mystery solved. Thanks always, Suzanne, for a comprehensive report. When I visited San Diego in early October, I couldn't help but feel myself being pulled to the bears many times as I wondered the zoo. These magnificent bears, along with their peaceful setting mesmerized me. I just can't imagine what it must be like to add a couple of rambunctious cubbies!
