#170 & #171 P. Wong - yes, I knew about bambooworld and I got in touch with them. I explained my location and climate and they have suggested a clumping variety that I can try. I did more research on this species and all my sources indicate that the " Fargesia murielae" is one of the giant pandas' favorite. It is a very hardy variety that thrives in shade and does not grow very tall. So, I'm going to give it a try next spring as it's too late now to get it started where I am. So, if other panda lovers out there want to try growing bamboo, search for a supplier in your area and see if they can get you this variety. Who knows? Maybe someday we can, indeed, provide a new home for giant pandas in our northern wilderness!!

Chari, LCNessie does outstanding videos on YouTube with Mei Lan & Lun Lun as the stars...they are set to music and absolutley heartwarming & fun to watch!! Go to YouTube & type in LCNessie; all of the videos will come up. One of the funniest was when Mei Lan was playing with her yellow car, set to the music...Baby, You Can Drive My Car......hilarious...! LCNessie catches the essence of what pandas really are, and why we all love them so much!

Just like everyone, I'm thrilled about the new cub at Zoo Atlanta, and so happy the PandaCam is on 24/7...thanks, Chari, for making the phone call to ZA; I'm sure it made a difference in adding the extra hours to the cam, so all of us can marvel at this miracle. Lun Lun is a wonderful mother; just like Bai...! I hope Lun's new cub is as precocious as Tai Shan, ZZ, & Su Lin; that will only add to our joy as we watch it grow up...!

Lun Lun's water broke at 1:25 p.m. Saturday afternoon. She has been cuddling the cub, and licking it. However, she is holding it in a way that you can't see it. I have seen the shadow of one of the keepers, checking on her. Not being able to hear the vocalizations makes it difficult to know just what is going on. I just hope this baby is healthy, and Lun Lun is being the wonderful mother that we all know she is. I just feel so happy.

That was 10:10 p.m. I haven't been able to see the baby yet. I think Lun Lun must be holding the baby on her paw. Going back to watch her some more. I am really, really excited.....

Hi pandafan #167 - I believe that Yinghua's performance from the Beijing Zoo deserves a gold medal for her part in the " swinging tyre" competition. Some of her physical movements were quite interesting and unique. Very cute :-)

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on all the fun videos.
