What was the lowest number ever for the California Condor population?
I have read it was 27 birds in April 1987. However , I have read different numbers for their lowest population.
I also read that of those 27 birds, only 14 were considered geneticly distinct individuals and the other 13 birds were relatives of the 14.
If I’m correct, there are only 14 blood lines to work with.
Please respond. Thanks.
