I just read all of these blog entries and I went through a box of tissues! BAWLING my eyes out. I so enjoyed reading the worlds comments on Mei Sheng! What an ambassador he is! I hope, deep down in his Panda soul, he knows how admired he is. how loved he is.

Thank Goodness I have been busy at work today so as not to keep checking the web site continously.
I did just notice the news line that Mei Sheng is on his way. . My heart is filled with a little sadness but
happiness at the life that is ahead of our precious little boy. God Speed Mei Sheng. . Safe Travels. .

Thank you also for updating the panda cams on who is who. . Maybe we will get to see our proud Daddy
a bit more often. .

I see our young man has started his travels home to fulfill his destiny. May you have a safe trip with your handlers, and we all look so forward to seeing a new post that tells us how well you are doing.

The past few days so many people have posted their joy in watching Mei grow into the fine young bear he is, I sentiment all of the same feelings. I am grateful to have seen him in person before he left, and once again would like to thank all of his keepers for their wonderful care.

He is such a handsome fella, and we all know that he will produce beautiful little Panda Bears for all of us back home......

Today, I noticed that Mei Sheng's picture has been moved on the pandcam page and placed beside Hua Mei's and Shi Shi's pictures. Now we know for sure that our baby boy (he will always be our baby) has left San Diego, CA for Wolong in China. I have mixed feelings. I'm going to miss seeing him on the panda cams interacting with Su Lin. But in my mind, I know Mei Sheng returning to China is for the best. I feel better concentrating on the fact that he will have a choice of bride when he gets to China. Hopefully, he will have a great relationship with his future bride like his parents Bai Yun and Gao Gao do. I also hope that Mei Sheng will be able to enjoy the mountains, the fresh air, and the beautiful outside surroundings in Wolong. I just hope that we can see pictures of him in the future. We love him so much.

Well, on that note, I have to get back to work. But I just want to wish a safe trip for our boy and his handlers, and all the best for the San Diego Zoo staff, the American/Chinese staffers accompanying Mei Sheng to Wolong, Mei Sheng's new keepers, and all those involved who love Mei Sheng. May Mei Sheng continue to have a beautiful life.

My thoughts are with the panda staff as you go through your days this week with somewhat heavy hearts, but knowing that you played a strong role in raising this most precious panda boy that has left you for his " homeland." Your love and dedication helped him become the strong, independent panda that he is destined to be.

Your professionalism is exemplary, and your dedication unmatched.

May the fond memories and mental pictures carry you through your tears, and long hours. And, may the sight of the other four beautiful pandas still in your midst receiving your care, be the recipients of your renewed vigor to provide the pandas the best possible home in the US. As you reflect on Mei Sheng's life and growth, and look at his " baby sister" as she starts along the same path, may your efforts be reflected in her, and Su Lin, as they mature into equally precious adolescent pandas.

Thanks to the Meerkats for sharing images of the " whole family" as we each reflect on this special, somewhat sad, week. It is great to see that pandas are more resilient than humans, and are moving on as though nothing has happened. After all, in the wild each of the adults and Su Lin would be roaming their own territory, and would literally move on, after a possible brief encounter with each other in the wild. They don't tend to harbor the same kind of memories that humans do. It is all a part of life and " growing up" for them.

I especially appreciated Carmi's comments in the video which put into " real" perspective the emotions that all of us human panda watchers and admirers are going through. We must keep the welfare of ALL pandas in mind, and realize that this must be, and that it is " the right thing to do."

May your journey be quiet, uneventful, and unstressful, Mei Sheng, and may your sleep and your dreams of " home" be sweet. Be a great guy and make us all proud to have shared the first 4 years of your most precious life. Enjoy your time with your US friends as you meet your new Chinese friends.
