Giant panda cub Xiao Liwu was a very busy boy during his weekly exam at the San Diego Zoo. When brought from his den, the rambunctious cub went straight to his toys, climbing headfirst into a doughnut-shaped plastic ring, playing with a ball, and frolicking in a tub while chewing bamboo. He quickly indicated, by running off and squirming from his keepers, that he wanted to play versus being weighed and measured.
The cub’s 20th exam showed the five-month-old panda is healthy and developing well. He is stronger, more agile, and continues to erupt baby teeth and is mouthing, chewing, and teething a bit. The young cub weighed in at 16 pounds (7.3 kilograms) and measured just over 30 inches (76.5 centimeters) in length from nose to tail tip.
“Xiao Liwu was very active, very strong, and very exploratory during his exam this morning,” said PK Robbins, senior veterinarian at the San Diego Zoo. “He is moving about very quickly and exhibiting great confidence in his strength and climbing abilities. At this rate, I think we will see him venturing into more areas of the giant panda habitat very soon.”
Matt Steele is the social media planner for San Diego Zoo Global.

What a joy to watch Xiao Liwu as he grows and develops ! Loved the sneak peek yesterday too as he ambled about the outer area, exploring, and then cuddling with his Mama. I live in New England, yet feel I have been right there. Have the cam on constantly. Yunzi has been a treat to observe also. Thank you for your outstanding work. What a blessing to all of us! Happy New Year!
Mr. Wu, you have a nice fluffy toosh. Just like your mama. Is that why you pat your Mama’s toosh to tell her you have one just like hers?
The video in the blog is the Youtube extras. If you notice, there are no vet commentary.
To see the “official” one, see the videos over to the right.
Lots of cuteness for us
Why are we seeing the baby way less lately???
My cubby is very very active and he likes to explore outside the den. We pandas do not keep regular hooman hours and we sleep as and when we feel like. Now Wu Wu and I sleep outside as well. There are no cameras there, Soon Wu Wu will be on public display and you can see him more often. I promised him that if he behaves, I will tell the nannykeepers that he can see hoomans daily. Thank you for watching us and loving us.
We must thank the volunteers who man the cameras and they have done a great job thus far.
Love,
Missy Bai
Ahh he so cute playing in the tub pawa over his eyes.15 lbs wow he heavy to carry now.He is big boy,
Tina…our Yun Zi used to cover both of his eyes, usually when Momma wash giving him his BAFF, he covered his eyes so no one could see him, he was embarressed……love grammmie
Wonderful update Matt. The best part for me was the video. Little Xiao Liwu loves his doughnut but seeing the speed he showed running off made me laugh. He has gone from the quiet little baby to the active toddler in a blink of an eye.
I loved his ‘gone in two seconds’ move too.
Happy New Year to everyone.
This little guy gets cuter by the week!! He is totally awesome and I just love to watch him!
I’ve been anxious all day to see the video of his 2oth exam. he is obviously getting stronger and stronger. I’ve misssed the live cam of him outside the den, but I know there’s more to come! As always thanks to all his caregivers for your expertsce and loving care of our “little gift”.
I’m sure Bai Yun will soon be chasing after him in the outdoor exhibit for us all to see very soon at this rate. Superb video. He’s doing so well now. Well done SDZ.
Is the girl panda at the
glasgow zoo still insisting that she now be addressed Lady McBear as I have heard.
Why don’t we see the Panda’s playing with their enrichment toys much?
According to the chart, he seems to be at the lower range of growth like his sister Su Lin. But like all children, I’m sure he’ll grow up to be one big and beautiful bear.
He does seem to be tracking Su Lin. I keep thinking maybe it is because his papa is on the small size. But Xiao Liwu still as a long time of growing ahead. He is just the cutest!
More tongue flicking for Gao today. Hummmmm?????
Today too.
I notice Gao doing this a lot too. What does it mean? Is it from his dental problems or does he flick his tongue more when he’s annoyed? I watched a video of him doing this a lot and it was while a lot of noisy construction work was going on nearby. Do loud noises upset Papa Gao?
I am wondering if the tongue flicking/licking is just a sign of age. I know that my mouth is drier now (62) than in the past. I just go and get a drink but maybe this is the panda way of doing it. Just a thought.
Xiao Liwu is more beautiful every day! Congratulations to the Vets and the San Diego Zoo Keepers for looking after so well and so lovingly of him and all other animals. But I would like the Panda Cam to halt longer in Xiao Liwu. It’s delicious accompanies it, even when you’re sleeping … Thanks and Wonderful New Year to you all.
Thanks Matt! He is definitely into playing; not so much liking the measuring!
I just found this blog and I must say I really like it, I love pandas and reading the blog is like seeing them grow up. Great job, great blog, please keep adding to it.
It is nice to see you Rick, welcome to the home of the Panda Nuts. We hope you continue to join is here in the comment section of the blog. We share information, videos we run across, and articles about pandas. Some of the folks who get to go to the zoo and photograph the pandas share those with us too. The upper portion of the blog is always informative and occasionally fun, the lower is fun and sometimes informative. The cams are on duty 24/7, and the blog is also open, but may hold for moderator approval until regular zoo hours. Love grammmie. p.s. there are archived older blogs to read too, just let us know if you need help getting to them.
Although he’s not on solid food and reliant on Bai Yun for food are you able to start clicker training with him or does that have to wait until after he’s weaned?
The Panda Team responds: We usually start clicker training the pandas when we can find an exciting reward they will work for. Right now we are trying to teach him to follow Bai Yun into different bedrooms and into a tunnel so he can prepare to go onto exhibit. He is still not interested in anything specific right now for clicker training.
I remember something about honey water used to train Yun Zi to shift to the bedroom, and he was still nursing at the time. It may be a matter of maturity and temperament that helps decide when clicker training starts, and treats for compliance depends on physical maturity…..love grammmie
Thanks Matt on the update. Glad to see that our little Panda is getting strong and loves playing with the toys. Hope to see him out in the habitat very soon.
Looks like another left handed cub like his brother. Each cub is a new adventure!!
DoxieMom, did you manage to capture the footage of Yun Zi when he found his box, and what happened after that as all I saw was the box sitting on his hammock, next thing the box was demolished. Was there cinnamon in it as Yun Zi has been rock n rolling all over the place. Another great video of our adorable Little Wu, thanks to all at San Diego Zoo for sharing him with us. His paw over his eye was priceless.
Very doubtful DoxieMom could capture anything the SDZ Internet Cam does not show to the public. By the time the Cam was put back into Yun Zi exhibit, the box was gone out of his hammock.
The only thing we can hope for is the Moderator asks the keepers what was in the box or one of the great visitors took a live video and will later upload it to one of the video sites.
Just now the camera was on Bai Yun and baby on the ledge in the garden for a few minutes, and then it switched back to Yun Zi’s empty exhibit outside. Can the cam operators PLEASE stop showing Yun Zi and Gao Gao exclusively all day? The baby is barely outside as it is, and we are missing what precious little time is left before he too becomes a big panda.
Moderator’s note: Our volunteer cam operators do the best they can while manning all the Zoo and Park cams. But don’t worry, Xiao Liwu will be a fun-to-watch little guy for at least another year, then he’ll become a fun-to-watch, slightly-bigger-but-just-as-cute guy.
AND I think there are fans of my older son and my husband too who would like to see them on the cam. Wu Wu will soon be on public display, I am getting him ready so you can see him in colour and black and white, a little panda humour there.
Love,
Missy Bai
I am just very appreciative of all the information we get, as well as the videos of any of our Giant Pandas. I’m SOOOO addicted!! (But to tell you the truth, our Mr. Wu is a great charmer.)
like most kids, when they start walking, watch out they run not walk any more. He maybe slow, but he will make up lost time.
what a love bug, just like he’s big brother.
Thank you for yet another peek into the life of our “Little Gift”.
Thank you to the cam operator for showing us all the panda bears.. It is so nice to see Yunzi and Gao Gao in addition to the Beautiful Bai and Cute Wu Zi…
Thank you for all the information from SDZ keepers and bloggers… and the very patient moderator and cam operators! Really, really appreciate when you zoom in for more closeups.
Love to see him so active ’cause I know it won’t be long before he goes on exhibit, and what excitement that will bring. Can’t wait!!!
Love you, Liwu!
I just loved watching this exam. Poor keepers trying to keep up with him. It was nice to see him with more stuff to keep him busy. It looked like he wanted to use someone’s hand as a teething toy! And him playing peek o boo with his paw was so cute. He is just such a fur ball. Just have to love him.
Will he always be touchable and playful with his “other parents”? (The SDZ handlers)
Moderator’s note: Touchable, no. Playful, in terms of interacting with them (with everyone on their own side of a safety barrier), yes.
Hi all,
). What bear-u-ti-ful kritters these pandas are. Watching the panda cam, exam videos, and reading the blog reports show how unique and special God’s creation is. He has to be taking special pride in his beautiful pandas. When I get to heaven, I want one for a pet.
I know Mr. Wu is on loan from China, but I honestly feel like he’s all mine. Well, he’s Bai’s baby, but after Bai, he’s mine. All mine.
Is there a reason why Hua Mei had so many exams from about 150 days old? Was she sick? None of the other cubs had as many check-ups as she did.
Moderator’s note: Well, she was our first cub, so we took every opportunity to learn as much as possible from a healthy youngster!
Oh my how can it be that Mr Wu is getting cutier every exam? He is okay after falling out of the tree he was climbing? Please let us know.
I am just amazed at how quickly he is growing. Great job Bai and staff. Can’t wait for his debut. Thanks for sharing.
Moderator I watched the video from National Geo about the twins in China and how the took care of them. The keep went into the area and took the little tiny cub away from its mother with no problem and the other bears seemed to play well together. Is there a reason SDZ doesn’t do that? I realize these are bears and know any bear isn’t to be reckoned with but why are the bears in China so mellow with the keepers?
Moderator’s note: It’s a San Diego Zoo policy/protocol for the safety and well being of both the animals and the keepers.
moderator…..I think SDZ has the right idea, I would find it silly to put a keeper or an animal in danger for no reason. I was just surprised as how easy they made it look taking the brand new cub away from mom and in Washington they took several hours to get to dead cub away from mom. I suppose in the case of the death the mother was very very upset and thus more dangerous. That is understandable. Thank you for the reply.
What a wonderful cub! The trainers have really done an outstanding job with their new techniques to make the cub feel at ease in the exams.
Was there on Dec.31st and enjoyed seeing his dad and brother. Looking forward to his debut!
I just did a “normal for me” check back on the previous blog and found a contribution from Matt that I somehow missed. If you go all the way to the bottom of the comment section, then count up 31 color changes, you will find a question about twins, the link is one of the answers. What I wrote to Matt I will try to paste here, so cross your fingers. If it works I will try to post the link here, but I am not good with that on my tablet yet. Do yourselves a favor and make sure you see this wonderful contribution to knowledge of Pandas…..love grammmie
Matt of all of the videos, reading and listening I have done in 3 years this must be the finest birth/twins/raising/breeding center information areas I have personally seen. It is so wonderful, and I never expected it to be as long and complete as it is. Thank you so much for posting it, and I have no idea how it slipped by me before. I check back on the blogs to catch questions and answers that I might end up losing……this is just the case in point….had I not checked back again it would have been lost to me. Thank you, and I will alert our Pandaholic friends to be sure to not miss it. Thank you…..love grammmie. Okay now I will try for the link, wish me luck or just go back one blog…..
Well I I tried but could not pick up just the link, just Matt’s answer, or even the entire section of 31 color changes from the bottom. But now you know to go look for the National Geographic link, and have an easy way to find it in blog 19, comment section. I am so glad I keep checking back. I am really surprised that I missed it last night when I was reading blogs since the cam was in a darkened space but very glad I found it………love grammmie
More tongue flicking for Gao today. Hummmmm?????
” Pandas do have chapped lips too ! Its dry outside
anyone have lipguard?”
I was reading either this comment section, or the previous one, it mentioned that this is a habit Sweet Daddy Gao Gao happens to have…love grammmie
Also, last year when he had surgery for the digestive problem, they discovered he had a loose tooth and thought that was the reason for the tongue flicking.
Just because pandas look adorable, it is easy to forget they are wild animals. In years past, at Chinese zoos, several teenagers climbed inside enclosures, wanting up close & personal with them. Instead, they were badly mauled (animal instinct to protect territory from intruders). Perhaps, it is related to testosterone surge, as those injured were all male human adolescents, none involved human females.
Dosen’t that give you food for thought? There must be a good reason that we females often claim to be smarter than men. I wonder if there is a scientific reason that we avoid danger even though we want a hug from a Panda as much if not more than our brothers. We call it smarts, but perhaps there is something deeper in our makeup…..love grammmie
Wheres the cutie Little Wu?
TONIGHT: DEN CAM BACK ON !
THANK YOU !!
Moderator’s note: He’s a moving target these days, and he is often in areas where there are no cameras. If you want to make your panda-watching efforts more of a game, just imagine you are in the panda’s native habitat; you’d have to spend a LOT of time looking to see one!
I love watching litle gift’s 20th exam, oh what a doll. But I feel sad that he’s growing up so fast, hope we get to see him outdoors sometime, missed him for a few days now. I watched the exam over and over. Well I hope to get there sometime to see them in person.
Tuned in just in time to see our little LiWu dreaming. His paws were going and twitching like crazy. Maybe he thought he was on the climbing structure again. I hope he has a happy landing. Sweet dreams Snugglepuff.
I thought he was practicing the wave, or dreaming of warm days in Hawaii!!
Somebody slip a note to the NannyKeepers, quickly…..the Electricity Police tell me somebody forgot to turn off a light when they left for the night. I like it since the light is outside the den itself, giving us a bit more view when Mr. Wuuuu and Bai Yun go in and out of the den, but we are all working on conservation. I am not falling to sleep with my live Panda show on anymore……I will keep working on the sleep timer on the TV. Also our 262 space mobile home park was out of electricity all day, so I think the NannyKeepers are using a lot less for one minor bulb. Electricity Police–they get a pass tonight…..love grammmie
Oh boy! They sure have their hands full with our rambunctious furrball. Love love love the head dive into his donut ring. Can’t wait for me more exploring!
Yes I admit I am a Pandaholic and can’t wait until my wife gets out of the Hospital and we have to visit her Doctors in Newport Beach and my Company Headquarters in Venice Beach as we will be at the Zoo for a few days to see our addiction the Bai Gao Family….
A question for the Panda Team about our Favorite Papa Bear Gao Gao and his teeth have they ever considered dental crowns for him as his teeth still seem to be bothering him ?
Panda Team note: As all animals age the first thing that starts wearing down is their teeth. Gao Gao has had several root canals and has a bridge in place on his back molars. There is not a strong enough crown to be able to take the pressure of chewing on bamboo. Keepers use a log smasher to break his bamboo into pieces 1 cm thick by 12 inches long to make consuming bamboo easier on his teeth.
Dennis it will not take long for the San Diego Zoo blog folks to find out just how true that is about you. Nice to see you posting here again. I hope that when you have a special video, photograph or whatever to share, you share with us too…..love grammmie
Glad to see the cam back in the den – I wonder if the den will be closed soon and just realized that it’ll be hard to adjust to Wu Wu growing up. Sigh. Missy Bai, give him an extra bear hug for us tonight.
Tonight at 10:30 pm PST Bai Yun is in the den on her back eating a late night snack. I wonder is she can have a GERD problem doing this….If I lie on my back and eat late at night, I will be suffering by morning with a bad stomach ache!

I have read that panda’s do not do well with twins and often ignore one of them. Is that true and if so are the vets successful in keeping the ignored one alive? Why would they not care for two cubs?

I saw this recently on TV – fascinating story about the challenge of raising twin pandas at a panda center in China.
http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/wild/episodes/panda-nursery/
you can type this addy go to this site or you can go to the exam 19 page and look for the green link Mat posted and go from there. It is worth your while.
Mat again, thank you for sharing this.
Tanda~~
Thanks for posting the link for Matt’s video and Matt, Thank you for the video!!
It really is interesting and informative. If anyone is wondering, it is 45 mins.
Felt so sorry for little Number 1 when his Mom rejected him when he got older. I wanted to hold and love him. Restored my faith when she took him.
The relationship and the true commitment the male Vet has with the Pandas is Very impressive. He has to be a good man with a loving heart!
Made me sad when they take the babies so soon plus the fact they will be putting them out into the wild.
Have some questions.
How old will our little Wu Wu be when he is sent back to China?
Are they going to put him out into the wild?
If this is so, it rips my heart out. After he is SO Loved and cared for, how in the world would he ever make it??!!!!
Is there any chance Wu Wu can stay with us in the U.S.?
I L.O.V.E. him SO Much. ♥♥♥
Sorry, I made a mistake. It was Number 2 the Mom rejected at first.
Didn’t know how to correct it on my post.
Please excuse.
Thanks in advance.
I think a lot of the success they are having now is growth of knowledge, and using the formula created for Black Bears, concocted at The San Diego Zoo. I was very happy the video gave vocal credit for the formula—-it was a huge breakthrough, and San Diego did it….hurray for the hard work by all staff at S D Zoo. Love grammmie
Tanda, I PERSONALLY think that in the past they did raise twins.
With a bifurcated uterus, and 4 nipples for feeding it makes sense…..but as time passed and a diet low in nutrition that changed, they could no longer serve both and have either servive. There has to be some reason for them to be physically set up for more than one. But you know me—I could be 100% wrong!!! Love grammmielcoopie

I just checked and the link I posted does work. It is a long video but very very worth watching.
I just checked in for my own update of the den and found both Bai Yun and our pal Mr. Wuuuu—–they are both asleep in their den, looking very cute. I am going to try for some sleep….and see you guys tomorrow……love from grammmie
Day 28 Story 28
‘And they are oooofffff!’ yelled the MC.
Wu Wu picked up his sack and he hopped and hopped. He had to cover 30 metres. Mama was at the finishing line egging him on. Riki-san the clouded leopard cub was abreast. He took a deep breath and hopped. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a takin calf coming up.
‘Wu Wu can. Wu Wu can. Mamaaaaaaaaaaa, Mamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!’ and with that he stumbled over the finishing line into the welcoming arms of his Mama. He had won by the last burst of speed. Riki-san shook paws with him before his papa swept him up onto his shoulders. Wu Wu waved to all who were cheering him. Yunior had videotaped it all on his approw phone.
Next up was Yunior in the Tree Swing event. He was up against a lemur, a red panda and a squirrel. The lemur went first and he went smoothly through his routine, no slip ups and no faltering. He received an ovation. And so did the squirrel. Then the red panda went into action. As she was coming out of a somersault, she missed a branch and tumbled down, spraining her paw. Yunior rushed forward to help her. She had to throw in the towel and limped off. Yunior composed himself and he waved to his family. He jumped and grabbed an overhead branch. He swung quickly through his routine and even added some cheeky dance steps. The crowd loved him and roared when he ended. The judges gave him top marks for artistry but he lost some marks on execution. The lemur had won and Yunior was second.
‘NOT FAIR!’ yelled Wu Wu. Yunior looked at his brother, ‘Xiao Di, I did my best but Larry Lemur did better. I was a little clumsy in my somersaults. Its OK so long as I did the best I could. OK?’ ‘OK. Wu Wu finks you are the best ge ge!’
The Gaos went to cheer the polar bears in a water polo match against the hippos. They were tied all the way and just before the final whistle the P Bears managed to score!!! The Gaos yelled till they were hoarse. The first Animal Sports Day at SDZ was a hit. Early in the morning, they had cheered their nannykeepers who had run a marathon around the zoo. All the animals cheered their own keepers. The panda team had finished well, in the top 5.
‘Shall we go to the picnic area?’ asked Bai Yun who had prepared a huge picnic basket knowing her men. Gao Gao found a nice spot under a tree. They waved to the lions and tigers who were having a bbq. Yunior laid down the mats as Mama set out her boo sausages, sandwiches, salad, pies and pizza. After the lunch, the men settled down for a nice nap before the finale; a football match between the animals from Australia versus those from Africa.
Bai Yun whipped on her sunnies, opened her novel ’50 shades of black and white’, put on her headset and settled down to enjoy her afternoon.
I love your stories, but I have to take exception to two things.
One, the clouded leopard cub lost?? Sounds like someone fixed the race.
Two, the lions and tigers having a bbq, Oh my!
It was a sack race
. If it was a direct race, my brother would have lost paws down. The lions and tigers are carnivores so I imagined if we had a picnic with boo sandwiches, they would have bbq. Sorry if I offended you with these 2 aspects.
Dearesr Yun Zi: Sometimes your written word is so good that we forget that you are writing fiction. If the Hippos and the Polar Bs had a contest who do you think would win? I know as Bears you would surely be a fan of the bears, but how do you think they would really do??? Love Auntie Grammmie
Thank you for this adventurous story.. Loved it al lot and always look forward to stories from the Gao family… I wish a book will be compiled for remembrance,,, Any possibilities???
If there is no book forthcoming you can scan back through the blogs—always good reading, but you will learn quickly how to scan through the comments section to pick out stories. I cannot be absolutely sure, but the first one I remember was “The Bamboo Diamond”. In the beginning you will find her name, and grow to love her even more. They started as kind of Fairy tales, then turned later too more current subjects. Yunior was a little boy them, but I am not sure if they started in the den, or once he was on display. Each and every one is charming, some blogs will have none, others multiples so don’t cheat yourself. If you locate “the bamboo diamond” would you post the date so I can read It again? It is one of my favorites…..love grammmie
Hi Grammie,
Sorry, I was not successful to find the Black Diamond… Yet
! Would it be a recent one or many years ago or like when Yunnie was born? I take it, that “Bamboo Diamond” is the title of the Comment from Missy Bai? These blogs are a little hard to search some or maybe I am not used to navigating this website yet.
Thank you… maybe I will find the story someday I hope
The Bamboo Diamond is centered around Yunior, but Bai is mentioned? It made me a lifetime fan of these stories and the fiction used to write them. I believe the diamond was from when Yunior was a youngster….that was near the beginning for me, I am not sure of the beginning of the author’s part. I started reading the blog about 1/2 way through, the “The “denning” stage, but I am not exactly sure how far. If I am up after sleeping all day, I will try for the link through the blogs. love auntie grammmie
Hi Grammie,
I found some references of the Bamboo Diamond. I hope it is Ok to post them here. It is in

The early adventures of Bai Yun. The scene: Wolong, China, 1996
I don’t know if this is the one.
And there are some adventures of Prince Gao Yun from Lucilla which started at blogs.sandiegozoo.org/2010/05/25/pandas-and-their-toys/#comments Part 1 Posted May 25, 2010 at 9:14 AM and Part 2 Posted May 26, 2010 at 1:15 AM

There are a bunch of other stories from Lucilla about Yunnie on these dates, too.
Enjoy reading them again
There are other interesting blogs I found, too… Sulin was our first baby to watch.. But going through Yunnie’s early baby days was so much fun.. He was indeed a very cute rolly-polly! We do miss Sulin and ZZ so I included a link that might be interesting for you to read as well… and of course, some blog on Bai Yun, too.

Hmm…after reading the story again today, I think Bai Yun has hinted a possible fun name for the storybook we are hoping will materialize!
“Bai Yun…opened her novel ’50 SHADES OF BLACK AND WHITE’….”
I made only one New Year promise this year: I promised to go panda. Which means that I’ll forget all unnecessery worries and enjoy life and bring joy to others too, like a panda.
I sure miss seeing our little guy but I am glad is growing strong into the coolest little cub ever !!!! Will be able to see more of him out in the garden?
Moderator’s note: We expect him to be out on exhibit sometime this month, and there will be a camera on that exhibit.
At 7:10 am, est, Master Wu was being an adorable little brat
Mama was sleeping so soundly but that was soon interupted with her little bundle of joy was trying to climb onto her back. He kept trying to get back up there, he finally gave up and was trying to make his escape out of the den when all of a sudden Mama’s huge paw took one swipe and pulled him back in without her moving another muscle. That didn’t deter him much since she had to pull him back in several times, I couldn’t keep watching, because work (of all things) intruded
I know I’m late, but better than never, so Happy New Year to all and especially the wonderful staff at SDZ.
I fondly remember Bai’s one paw, over the head, get the paw under the cub’s belly, and lift him right back with mama move we enjoyed so much when she and Yunior was a baby. I was looking forward to that move again, but I guess I will learn to get by (or Bai) without it….sure miss it though……love grammmie
Janis, your boss sounds a great deal like most of them, they think “work first,
Panda watching second”. I guess as long as you will be working you will need to convert the bosses. That way they will put several big screen moniters around the work spaces so all may enjoy the moves our pandas make, and some work might get done!!! Love grammmie
Finally got to see what some bloggers are talking about – Gao’s tongue flicking.. it is kind of cute… well, he is always a cute, handsome fellow to watch
What on earth has Yun Zi been doing today? We’ve been watching and laughing, because as he walks through his enclosure, every time he reaches the front, he flops down on his right side (in front of the people taking photos and videos) and then gets up and continues his walk. Has he been putting on a show for the visitors? Do you have any ideas as to what motivated him to engage in this behavior?
I’m not a specialist of course but I would think that he hopes they maybe could give some yummies because they are “hoomans”.
I just took a break to watch the cam, great work on the part of our volunteer Meercats (cam operators). You did great things watching Yun Zi and trying to catch up with him. Thank you…..love grammmie
Too bad there isn’t such a thing as a Panda Toothpick for Gao Gao…then he won’t have to use his tongue..
Called a Gaopick
too funny
Gao Gao has to ask Santa next year for a Gaopick
then he will not puzzle the viewers with all his Gao licks
LOL, LOL, LOL, ETC. love grammmie
Look at you go! Xiao, way to grow buddy
So precious!
Though…I do have a question for the panda team. I notice that Yun Zi always does this stop and roll thing near the back of his exhibit. It’s become a habit of his I am sure and every time he strolls back there I anticipate the short roll…which he always does thankfully. So I was just wondering why he does that or why at that specific spot?
Moderator’s note: Your question has been forwarded to the Panda Team.
I saw that the other day and Yun Zi usually does this when he’s hungry for more food. The keeper brought him in. They cleaned up his yard and put out new food. After he came back out he stopped doing the stop and roll thing and was happily eating
I miss Wuuu. Haven’t seen him in days other than in DoxieMom’s videos.
The zoo needs to save up to put a camera outside like they had for Yun Zi.
Glad I got to see more of him than this cub.
Perhaps the last cub and we are missing so much.
This is the best and fun stage the cubs go thru!
Here’s a video that captures Gao Gao’s tongue action

http://youtu.be/mmKOhOA5dzQ
Oh Dear! It’s almost dirty!
Moderator’s note: Please know that Gao Gao’s tongue-flicking appears to be connected to dental problems we have been working to solve.
Note to cam operators……Plz make sure cam is on den before you leave…I think its outside, all dark, all I see is tree trunks….no panda’s
Again the cam is showing outside, all dark, just tree stumps..no pandas …
…places stinky note on cam …please focus on den..so we can enjoy the pandas at nite..thnx..
Have been checking in on the Panda Cam.
It’s showing outside and it’s dark.
Where is our precious baby Wu Wu and/or HIH Mama Bai?
Hope everything is okay.
Thank you.
Moderator…Where does Yun Zi and Gao Gao sleep? Do either one of them ever go into there caves on the exhibit? Thanks.
Yun Zi and Gao Gao are brought into the back exhibit areas at night.
Thank you Matt
They have access to their indoor “bedrooms” at night in addition to the outside. Saw Yun Zi on cam in the wee hours of the morning while it was still dark outside.
I watched the Nat Geo video on raising twin pandas, and to me it was very interesting and sad. Taking the babies away at 6 months was hard for me to deal with, knowing our little LiWu would only have another month with Bai if they were there. Then to know that the mother is just being used constantly for breeding. Can’t they give her a break? Makes me feel bad for her. Also, the cubbies were handled without gloves from the minute they came out, I thought that was a no-no. I realize they are having “success” there, and they are trying to re-populate, but some things were just hard for me to accept.
Before this week, and sometime yesterday, or day before I read that they are suspending that practice. I believe in the beginning that they practiced that way out of despairation, but now are comfortable with the numbers rising. Love grammmie
It seems that every time I check the Panda Cam, Bai Yun and baby have fled the coop!! Maybe the time is coming when the cam will be moved to another location?
I used to get my daily fix!
I miss seeing Bai Yun
Hi there! Been watching little Wu since his birth!
I am San Diego bound late next month-will little Wu be on exhibit then? I waited and waited for the right price to book my trip, and now I am so excited to see my very first Pandas live!
Moderator’s Note: Yes, we expect Xiao Liwu to be on exhibit by next month. Enjoy your visit!
Sue I hope you have the best trip ever and see as many Pandas as you can handle…..love grammmie

Day 29 Story 29
Bai Yun’s Primer for First Time Panda Mamas
Lesson 4: Discipline
This is not a popular topic I know. And there are so many theories and suggestions on how we should discipline the cubbies. If your cubby grows up spoilt rotten and behaves badly, let me say it now, look in the mirror. Don’t blame the nannykeepers, the fans, the other bears, the teachers at school…..if the Mama and Papa do not lay down the law early from Day 1, it will be too late when they are 200 lb monsters.
As panda ambassadors to the hoomans, we have a responsibility that we do not have badly behaving cubbies. Here are some areas I demand good behaviour from my kids.
a) Politeness – They must greet all their elders properly. No ‘Wassup?’ or ‘Hey, dude.’ It has to be Hello/Good Morning Auntie Lun Lun, Uncle Yang Yang. If they are not sure of the status of the adults, then they should always use our generic ‘Uncle’ and ‘Aunty’. Of course Wu Wu will have cubbies calling him Uncle who are older than him. But he does outrank all of Hua Mei and Su Lin’s cubbies. Right now I insist that he goes and greets all the hoomans who are there for his exams. You will see him trotting from aunty to another. Good boy.
b) Face the consequences of your actions – I do not like irresponsibilty. So if you want to ignore Mama’s warning and try and climb a tree before you are ready, then do expect to have an ouchy tushy. Mama and Papa will watch out for you to make sure you don’t hurt yourself but you will have to learn to accept that life has ouchies.
c) I know cubbies have lots of energy but they have to respect Mama and Papa. Yunior tried to scent mark my lovely ears when he was a cubby and he was disciplined. Wu Wu climbed over me when I was sleeping and then jumped on me, he was also disciplined. Never never abuse the cubby. He or she is 12-15 lbs and you are about 200 lbs. A firm swipe or a light spanking wll suffice. Bamboo canes are for eating not caning, in my honest opinion.
d) The cubby will depend on you to help them plan their day. It will help them if you are firm with them. Most cubbies will want to sleep or nurse. But you need to stimulate them and bring them outdoors when the time is right. Help them to start to be aware of the world. Nothing is more dangerous than a panda who is unaware of his/her surroundings.
I would say in all things enjoy your time with the cubby. Laugh, giggle, play tricks on them. Dont worry and try to be perfect. Life is too short. My cubbies all remember me hanging upside down from a tree to surprise them. Hee Hee, I wonder what I shall do for Wu Wu? Sssshhhh, don’t tell him, I want to surprise him, hee hee hee hee.
Rules for hooman parents too
Wish some parents I know would use these
World would be a better place
I have seen “Hoomans” who accept behavior from their children that they wouldn’t accept from their dogs, and there is no reason that they should.
Point well said/written, HIH Bai Yun, it sounds to me that cubbies can be enjoyed, as long as you remember to add in proper lessons along ther way. I hope many Panda Ladies, and other species mothers and fathers pay close attention and apply your advice to your cubby raising. I miss the exclusive TV channel that your niece princess Lin Ping had for us every day. It seems I did my best ..Panda imitation today, and slept through much of today. I hope you and Gao Gao have enjoyed your day also…..love grammmie
It’s now 5:30 am in San Diego and the camera is still focused on Yun Zi’s exhibit, and I can see him walking around! I thought he went to his bedroom at night, one reason I thought this is because when Tai Shan was young and in Washington DC he went up a tree and there was an article about the keeper having to return to the zoo at midnight to get him down! I guess for safety concerns I thought that the pandas would not be on exhibit at night but apparently they are?
Sheryl -Tai Shan was always brought in because National Zoo is very close to (I think) Rock Park & they feared other animals could possibly
harm him. I was there one late afternoon in Oct. and getting him down
from a tree was a real challenge.
I used to enjoy Bai and Yunior’s night time play. It was very hard to see some nights, but with a good moon or certain lights you could see them pretty well. They also get up for “midnight snackts…..love grammmie
The National Zoo is located in Rock Creek Park. where there are some wild animals.(coyotes, foxes etc) The zoo did not want a small TaiShan out at night. I was watching that night when Tai went up the tree and couldn’t get down. His keeper was there till midnight coaxing and calling. I was getting ready to call the fire dept. so they could use a huge ladder to rescue Tai. He was still nursing so I bet momma MeiXiang had a few words for him when HE FINALLY came down.
I bet he got quite a lecture about coming when called, and 2 more long dunking s for that too! Love grammmie
Past response from moderators in other blog said that Yun Zi and Gao Gao at night have access to both their indoor suites and outside exhibit areas. So they are free to roam back and forth.
Now NZ is different, they do not let their pandas roam around the outside exhibits if they are not there. That is while they are brought inside around 2pm ET and stay there until they are released in the morning about 8am.
Here is a cute story about Yunzi when he was a baby
http://blogs.sandiegozoo.org/2010/02/23/a-yun-zi-story/#comments
Thank you to all who replied to my note, that’s interesting to know about the Rock Park danger and all, and what a small panda world huh? All of us here and maybe many more who watched Tai Shan too! I really loved him and I think of him often, I love little Xiao Liwu and his family too!
http://blogs.sandiegozoo.org/2010/07/30/bamboo-feeding-basics/
Bamboo Feeding Basics……..a great blog at the link above, has a wonderful Panda Birthday story in two parts…..really cute. How about that…..I was able to copy and paste this link. I may not always be able to, but today is off to a good start. The story starts at 21 color changes from the top. There is also some great information about bamboo along the way. I hope you enjoy…..love grammmie. p.s. don’t miss any of the other links in the comment section……great stuff to see.
Is it just me and the way I see things, or is Yun Zi getting bigger? Today, while pacing, he looks way bigger.
He is still growing, so you may see a difference….love grammmie
We haven’t seen Bai Yun and the baby for a week or more for more than a few minutes at a time now. Can the cam operators PLEASE show more of them during the day?? I’d much rather watch him sleep than Yun Zi or Gao Gao. Often the camera is just on an empty Yun Zi exhibit also.
I agree with you. Last night the camera wasn’t even focused on the den. Apparently when it got dark they just decided to leave the camera focused on whatever enclosure it was focused on. This morning I tuned in and there was finally a shot of the den but of course it was empty. Yesterday morning I got to see Bai Yun and Wu sleeping in the den.
Both mom and Wu were sleeping in the den when I turned the cam on this am. It was Bai’s turn to wake up Mr Wu. She finally got him awake. Tried to give him his bath. As usual he didn’t want it. They played for a long time. He climbed on her back. Bai flipped over and then Wu was bitting her butt. She is a wonderful and patient mom. He had her standing on her head. I was laughing so hard. They played a long time. Then it was to try giving his bath yea right. didn’t work too well. then WU finally broke away and Bai was right after him out the den they went. What a fun morning it was. Thanks SDZ for sharing this with us. I hope everyone was watching this it was soooo cute. have a good day.
Are you starting to get the idea that when it finally comes time for Mr. Wuuuu to get his dunking in the pool that he might get a longer, deeper, wetter dunking than Yun Zi or Mei Sheng got? He might be lucky to end with one dry ear,!!! Love grammmie
I have just been watching the panda cam and I, too, observed the front of the enclosure roll Yun Zi does. It did not seem to matter how short or long the walk was, it seemed to be the spot that had him dropping down on his right shoulder , almost laying on his right side before resuming walking. Great cam work by whomever was on duty, tring to keep him in the picture was sometimes challenging. Love grammmie
Yun Zi was full off himself on sat. he was putting on show for his guest. He would roll right in front of them how cute.
I saw that! Only at that one place would he roll. He’s so funny! He drinks in the admiration.
We hope the link to a fun time with Cousin Lin Ping (who has a black tail spot just like our Yunior’s) and I believe her Vet. It is enrichment play time, but I am not sure who is having more fun. She had to be just prior to or very near her first Bearday. It is my understandings she would make 2 Yunior’s. I am putting the link from the blog, and the longer one so one should work. This is from the blog I last mentioned on Friday evening…….Lots more stuff to get from the comment section of “Bamboo Feeding Basics”. Lets see if I can find it now……love grammmie
I could not get the shorter link, so if you need it go about 2/3rds of the way down the comments, and the name who made the comment is Marie.
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=3N2GqFZvsrg&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D3N2GqFZvsrg
I just tried the link I sent for Princess Lin Ping’s frolic with her Vet, it worked for me so I am hoping you get to enjoy it. There are many links above and below in the comments, so if you cannot see our baby for a time, you can watch Mr. Wuuuu’s and Yunior’s cousin. Love grammmie
I got the age wrong……Princess Lin Ping was younger than one year old when these videos were done…..by the time she was one she was the same size as her mom. I didn’t know she was a San Diego Zoo cousin until after I personally started calling her princess…..it was just how her keepers treated her….carrying her everywhere she went, bathing her every day, etc. even gift giving by fans…3 people sat at a low table, on the floor, person 1 opened and made a note, keeper showed her the gift through the bars, and spoke to her, third made the thank you note as far as I could tell. They all treated her like a baby or young child. The gift thing seemed to be a weekly happening. She is going to grow up to be quite the royal big panda lady. Love grammmie. (She was bigger than mommy by the time she was weaned…can you imagine how that looked?)
You may have often heard me refer to ZZ as a Panda who likes to lead her excersize class hanging from a tree by her toes, photographs on the page the link will lead you to a page of photos that shows her in action. There are a couple on the preceding page also. I have scanned from page 100 through 150, and have not found the “Yukon Zi is a hat” photos
www (dot) flickr (dot) com/photos/ritapetita/page154/
That is the link I could not get onto the comment just above….I hope you all enjoy the fun that our funny girl provided….love grammmie
How did “Yukon” get past the proof reader, instead of “Yun”. I will never know— yes I know, I am the proof reader and I messed up!!!
Gao Gao’s NannyKeepers must be hungry. They are in his enclosure cleaning, but I see they are gathering up his leftovers for their lunch…it is noon….love grammmie
I just saw an interesting TV commercial. “An Idiot Abroad” is ready to start it’s final season, there will be 2 cast members this time, and at one point they put on Panda Suits to visit in an enclosure. They probably are faking the actual things that happen, but it looks like fun. No, it is not on the Panda Channel, try the SciFi channel….love grammmie
The other day I promised to find Princess Lin Ping’s Wild Exam with captions from her point of view…..and just now I found it. It is quite wild and just for fun, so enjoy, love grammmie
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=TGOnIp6DYOQ&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DTGOnIp6DYOQ
Thanks, Gwammmie, dat was hiwawious!
Thanks for the video, grammie. What a cutie … almost as cute as ‘our’ little guy.
Grammie… for some reason it pulls up the site. But when I click on the video, it doesn’t do anything?!! Any ideas? Thank you! And I love all the input you share. xxoo
I wish I could help you, but I am computer challenged and no help at all. Perhaps there are some folks who read this and will reach out with help…..love grammmie
I knew you nuts would enjoy it….heck you don’t even have to be a Panda Nut to enjoy it.
Why is the panda cam not working properly? We love to see the baby!
I’ve been pretty unfortunate in my viewing timing for several days now. It sure would be helpful if a cubbie schedule could be posted to view him. I miss him; his sweetness.
Thanks for considering this possibility.
Jane
Watched the video of the cub’s vet exam from this past week. He is really getting around that room, isn’t he? He even did a little bit of running, too! Oh boy–Momma Bai is going to have her paws pretty full with this active little guy! At 16 pounds and 30 inches long, he’s going to be a handful for the keepers, too! Looked at the latest chart, and he’s tracking very closely to Su Lin’s growth pattern, even matching her pound for pound and inch by inch. He’s still a growing little guy!
Andean bear mom BJ is still going strong with her twins. They are still making alot of noises, but they are also staying quiet alot longer, too! They are getting much more comfy with mom, getting their milk, and taking longer naps, which gives BJ some extra nap time or able to leave the cubs for something to eat and drink. At least, she looks pretty relaxed now that her babies have settled down alot more this last week. Still no word on the cubs’ first vet exam yet. Will let you know. I think that the cub’s eyes and ears should be open by now.
Also, at National Zoo, Sloth bear mom, Hanna, has given birth to one cub on December 19. You can get updates on them on NZ’s flickr website along with pics and vids of Hanna and her cub. NZ sloth bear keepers don’t have a bearcubcam on the sloth bear page right now, but they do have their own camera in their office to monitor Hanna and her new cub. This is Hanna’s second cub, and the daddy is Francois. Along with Mei Xiang’s baby panda cub that we lost a few months ago, NZ has had a baby bear boom! That’s really good, too, expecially for the Sloth and Andean bears. Both of these types of bears are on the Endangered Species list, and the conservation of these bears are very important to everyone.
That’s it for now. Been on the pandacam, and it was showing one of the other panda’s yard instead of little Xiao right now. We want to see little Liwu a little more often, please??
Will be back later on! Oh yeah, got the news yesterday about Chinook failing to get pregnant again. So sad to hear that because I was really hoping that Chinook will have a couple of polar bear cub twins this year. Hope that she will be able to get pregnant later on this year!

Day 30 Story 30
Wu Wu prepares for his Big Day
‘Mama, how do I wook?’ asked Wu Wu as he donned his suit and stood in front of the mirror.
‘My, you do look adorable, dear,’ remarked Bai Yun as her son spun round.
‘But Mama, I want to be me, I want the pwess to see me as I am. I wanna wear my T and my showts. My Thomas the Tank T please.’
‘My dear boy, you are my sixth child to make your debut. The whole world is waiting to see how handsome you are. How can you appear in a T shirt?’ moans Mama. She covers her face in despair.
‘OK OK Mama, no cry no cry, Wu Wu good boy. I wear suit for photos. Then can I change? Please please please???’ begged the Wu Wu who fixed his gaze on Mama.
Mama giggled, ‘Ok wear what you want then!’
‘Weally? Wear what I want? YAYYYYYYY!’
‘Wait you must wear the suit first.’
Yunior walks in as his brother starts pouting.
‘WOAH, who is the Panda Quarterly Model here? Not bad. You can give David Bearham a run for his money. I think you will look even better in a tux!’
‘NOOOOOOOOOOOO!’
‘OH YES!’ says Bai Yun as her eyes light up.
‘Ge Ge, you just sabotaged me big time! Nooooo, Mama, Noooooo, I will wear the suit for photos and then change to my T and shorts.’
‘OK, tell Mama how you are going to greet the press,’ asked Bai.
‘Herrow, Ni Hao, Huan Ing Ni Men,’ answers Wu Zi solemnly.
‘It is Ning and not Ni. Ning or You is to show respect for older people,’ coaches Mama Bai. Yunior laughed and laughed. He suddenly had flashbacks to the day of his own debut. ‘I was so innocent and so young,’ mused the Ge Ge.
‘OK, Ning Hao. Huang Ing Ning Men. I am Gao Xiao Li Wu and I am a little gift to the world. I have prepared a song for you…..ahem…..’Wo si ke xiao li wuuuuu, I am a small gift to yooooouuuu….’
As Li Wu sang his song, he looked so earnest and cute that Bai Yun felt a tear roll down her fluffy cheeks. She quickly swiped it away.
‘Bravo Bravo!’ cheered Yunior and his brother rips off his suit and is in a T and shorts. He starts doing a pangham style dance with a panda cubby trotting movements. He trotted here and there and twirled around the ground, shaking his fluffy butt so adorably that his brother and mother laughed and laughed.
Gao Gao enters the room with some pizza for lunch. ‘How’s my boy? Is he ready for the world? And is the world ready for him?’ asked the proud papa.
Bai Yun smiled at her husband, ‘Our boy is ready!’ ‘Wooo Hooo, that’s my boy….errr, our boy!’
The End
I miss Xiao LiWu.
I need to see him everyday!
Sure do miss the little gift, would love the camera to be focused on the den or mom’s garden a little more. Is all ok with him?
I would love to see more of Bai Yun and her baby “Little Gift”…
Is there anyway to place the camera where we could see the two of them???
Hi Grammie,
In response to your request to the search for “The Legend of the Bamboo Diamond”, I think I found it.
I posted some information in my previous comment posted Jan 4 but missed this main one (I think the beginning of the fairy tale story) and so retyping the links/dates here for what I think is more complete. The writer is Lucilla. I hope you (and perhaps other readers like me) will enjoy reading them again. Thank you for sharing this information with me. I enjoyed reading the stories very much! There were other stories (not fairy tale ones) that were as enjoyable to read in the following links. All done during Yunzi’s early baby months. He must have been such an inspiration to all

Thank you so much Lil and Bill. Sometimes I spread myself rather thinly, then I get nothing done. You guys are great! ! ! Love grammmie
You are welcome Grammie… Thank you for the hint that the Legend began during Yunzi’s early baby months which narrowed down the search and made it easier.
If there cannot be a book that can be compiled ( as requested by many Panda fans it seems while reading through the comments on these links ), it would really be nice if there is some way if SDZ can find some time to create a compilation of these stories on the panda website and create a tag/link to the compilation, Perhaps that way, it will be an “easy reference” and a matter of a few key strokes instead of a longer, ellaborate search. It may take some computer effort but may be somewhat nice to have such a “library of literary contributions”. I know there were some very, very lovely poems written by some contributors, too… I just thought it is just a great way to honor the gift of these pandas and to those who feel so close to them and be inspired to write about them… just thinking, as it seems a little sad to not have them readily available to new readers of the panda blogs
I think both would be nice. A book would propably be a great article to sell in the shops. And if it would be possible to order it in the net, I for my part would purchase it immediately.
By the way, guess what my pandaholism made me to do today! I aquired a visacard to be able to adopt a panda. They asked me in the bank what my principal use for the card is. I almost told them I’ll use it mainly for adoping a panda!
Dear Friends,
Thank you for all the hard work. I started writing them when photos and the antics of the pandas on the cam got me thinking WHAT IF. Those are dangerous words I realized. My latest is the 30 stories in 30 days. Someone had compiled some of my early stories up to a point. I plan to compile all of them and then decide what to do with them. I had a series when Yunnie was growing up in which he has dreams of different careers.
I do use the panda pseudonymns as well. Do look for P Wong’s delightful conversations too. My recollection was it started with Gao Gao and a Tourist.
Thanks so much for liking the stories.
Panda Hugs and Love,
Lucilla
Sweetie, we do not like your writings, we LOVE them! I am having a great time rereading some, and reading some for the first time from my ill year I was offline. I appreciate everything creative written about our pandas since it helps make them “ours” without diminishing their dignity as wild beautiful animals……it gives us the best of both worlds. I sometimes wonder if our regular writers help folks on other blogs to stretch their creative wings too. I love it when HIH Bai Yun, Yunior and Mr. Wuuuu say things directly to me too. Such joy to get a note from a Panda! Love grammmie
Okay, the rest of you may see it, it is about 2 1/2 years old, and in time you may have had the chance to find it on your own. Beverly and I are reasonably sure that there has been some cubby kissing going on, and not from Momma Bai Yun. During the photo, and the one just before or after it, HIH Bai Yun was locked up and only the NannyKeepers know for sure, but we have both eyes and imagination.
Lucilla–have you thought of honoring the SKS NannyKeepers with letting them into your imagination. We have a delicate balance going on here, like all time it is limited, if we gave her too many things to inspire her she might have to skip watching and blog reading, that would free up more time for write, and on and on……I guess we must trust Missy Lucilla to be in control, she certainly knows how to keep our attention peaked…love grammmie
Well, so it’s you Lucilla behind these lovely ‘Pandatales’. You should really get them published, they are so marvellous!
Now that there may indeed be a ground swell of interest, perhaps it is time to create a web page with list of links for creative works to make it easier for readers to locate the material. Some of the required tasks may be as follows:
1. Research webpage space/resource availability. This may consist of some readily available/reliable public blog page, social network page, or even a special SDZ blog page dedicated to index these links. Then assign a volunteer or other webpage coordinator (this may even be SDZ moderator) to manage the webpage.
2. Each contributing author creates list of his/her own compilation of link addresses of past works. Then submit the list to webpage coordinator or SDZ moderator. Process for managing new/ongoing works to be determined later once the webpage is stable and functional.
3. Webpage coordinator or SDZ moderator collects lists from authors and posts the links to the webpage.
I hope this constitutes a workable solution. At least this would provide something quickly and cheaply as compared to publishing some printed work or ebook product.
Would anyone have additional thoughts or input?
P Wong…your Mr. Tourist/ Gao Gao interviews were the first panda creative writings I read, and you had me Rolling On The Floor. One of my favorites was the holiday they all gathered in China, in a tree, and gave gifts wrapped in red paper. Gao Gao took the lowest branch, but got a gold metal for longest toss up the tree. There was a feast involved. Would you consider rerunning a few of the older ones so our new friends had a chance to get to know you better? It sure sounds like fun to me. I am not sure when it was written….I have a habit of reading older blogs too…love grammmie
Hello Grammmie,
Instead of rerunning/resubmitting the posts, I will post the link address below to the 2 old posts you request. (You see, my basic proposal/suggestion is to post a list of link addresses of the pertinent old submissions on a centralized webpage instead of re-posting the submissions themselves. This way, the centralized webpage will contain index of these link addresses for readers to click on and refer to.) Hope this helps. Enjoy!

http://blogs.sandiegozoo.org/2010/02/10/home-on-the-home-range/#comments
P Wong, I personally think you have let loose a real monster, I only hope I am at it’s head. You said something, or a reader did, about you having translated Gao Gao’s true story. Some of us were not around when that was done, and would love to know where to get the true information. Is there something like a link you can post so we can find out the correct information? I know I would be most greatful. Love grammmie. p.s. the quote below is where I got my information.
“P Wong – Thank you for bringing us smiles. It always works. I’m still grateful to you for having translated Gao Gao’s true story”. I saw it while looking for Gao #92 & #93.
Really good idea, anything to get to enjoy them, and in some cases find out the truth. Love grammmie
- Grammmie…
The translation relates to a Chinese documentary Returning Home covering events leading up to Gao Gao’s 1995 release back into the wild. Here is the link location:
http://blogs.sandiegozoo.org/2009/01/19/celebrating-gao-gao/
- And to dear Moderator and SDZ…
By the way, I presently do have compilation list of link locations/addresses corresponding to past “Conversation with” submissions. So if SDZ decides to go ahead with the Creative Writing webpage and believes it beneficial to have these links, please feel free to contact me for the list.
And thanks again very very much for the outlet to submit to the blog. It was fun and a pleasure to write them.
P Wong
Moderator’s note: Will do!
It seems that all these comments (with/without additional stories) are part of a list for each blog created by SDZ . As the moderator adds/proof reads these comments, would it be possible for a comment/blog to have an added special “tag” if it has an associated “literary contribution” such as a story or a poem? Those tagged specially may be included in a list of “literary contributions” in some webpage which could still be part of an SDZ link, e.g., “Panda Creative Stories/Poems” link if that is an easy task. This way only one single storage of the story/poem is allocated which is referenced/indexed by a Panda Blog Comment Section and possibly also by the, “Panda Creative Literature” Section/link if it has a story or poem. That way, there is also just a one time “proof reading” by the moderator for any non-permissible content.
After we are done with comments, we click on “Post Coment”, would it be possible to have another click button “Post Story” where the latter not only posts the contribution as a comment but also tags the comment as a “Creative Story/poem”. This puts the responsibility to the contributor for tagging a comment as a story.
THis will only work for subsequent postings and may have to do some special design for previous contributions.
On a side note, a while back I encountered some website with Pamela G.’s lovely poems and have some pictures on it. I do not know if I saw it at Flickr.. so there you go, my memory eludes me and need to search for them again
Moderator’s note: We will consider the ideas presented in this thread. Thank you all for your suggestions!
There is a limited amount at flickr, and more in an area reached by typing pandas live on into your address bar, they are in the archives, but with limited computer skills I know I have not gotten them all. One of my favorites appears in the Flickr batch, it was written for Su Lin or Z Z in the den, and is lovely like all of her work was. Love grammmie.

A must see photo…..a young Yun Zi demonstrating levitation (as long as you don’t enlarge it too Big).
It is fun rereading some of the blogs and remembering the photos to illustrate them. When I find them we will post the photos from the day YZ decided to be a hat for his mama, using himself as materials….love grammmie
Moderator’s Note: That photo is really funny! Thanks for sharing
I am going to contribute a page almost full of ZZ, hanging by her toes high in a tree, leading her aerobics class. They are quite fun. I had the info almost typed up when I hit a wrong key, so I must start over…..after breakfast.
I caught up with the “lost” page a few comments above and posted the link for ZZ photos. I didn’t break the link because flickr links didn’t need to be broken, but I guess the policy has changed? The moderator kindly caught it and broke it for me. It will take some getting used to, and to remember…love grammmie

I forgot to put the link in, dummy me.
Out of curiosity, I have a question – I’ve seen a few people do that, so I wonder – why do you put (dot) (dot) in the links? I thought providing a link in a comment section is to make it easier for people to view it, not make it harder with the dots? I understand the ‘dot’ in an e-mail address, but can’t figure out the ‘dot’ in the link to a page – please explain?
Blog policy is to not put links to other blogs on it, but in the past things like youtube, flickr etc. have been exempt. However it seems that flickr is no longer in that category. Because we have kind moderators we are allowed to “break” the link so it can be included. Usually it means replacing one or two periods with (dot) and I usually leave a space on each side of the dot to make it easier to see. If you put a period in place of (dot), and close the gaps it repairs the link. The whole link would be convenient, but at least we do not have to do a complete search for everything…….love grammmie
Thank you, Grammie for explanation. I was very curious about that. At least now I know. Thank you again!
Dear Moderators, I need some clarity about posting links on the blog. For 3 years flickr links have been allowed without breaking them. Even in this comment section some are allowed, some were not. If they have to be broken I will do my best to remember that, but if some are allowed why not all? I just want to be clear. I have a new mini tablet, but so far I have not figured out how to repair to use a link. If you would rather not answer this publicly just email me at. grammiecoopie@msn.com. Thank you muchly, I know if published you will trim as needed…….love grammmie
Moderator’s note: We allow unbroken links to social media sites, including flickr. If a flickr link was “broken,” it was merely an accident on our part.
Thank You sweet Moderators. I hoped that was the problem, and am glad we can “Unbreak them now”. Imagine getting Panda kisses as your reward….but do not tell HIH Bai Yun or my “fluffy” may suffer! Love grammmie
Here is the unbroken link showing how Yun Zi could levitate when he was younger, and weighed much less. This only works if you do not enlarge too much….love grammmie

Dear moderator, I want to ask a question , the polar bears in the wild do hibernate in winter , in view of the weather of San Diego is completely different from their habitat, do the captive polar bears in SDZ hibernate ?
Moderator’s note: Hibernation in bears is generally driven by seasonal variation in food availability. Our bears receive food year round, so don’t need to hibernate.
Thank you Matt for your blog and the video. I just love Xiao Liwu when he looks straight into the camera. I feel it is especially for me! The growth chart is quite interesting showing that “our” baby might not be on the big side currently but makes up for it by being extremely agile and rambunctious. I guess Mama Bai will have quite a pawful. But by now she should be used to handle babies. Being such an excellent and docile mother Bai will, no doubt, be able to put her baby “into place” whenever she feels it is necessary. I cannot for the next exam on video.
Why the panda cam is no longer showing Xiao Liwu? It is beautifully amazing! Hugs!
I’m missing our sweet Cubby for several days now. As with others, I’m wondering why we’re not seeing much of him on cam. If he’s in mom’s garden rm. can we not view them there…PLEASE???! I’ve watched mom and Cubby 24/7 since he was born and am having withdrawals…LOL!
When will the camera be up in the den? Really miss Bai Yun and Xiao Liwu. Will cameras be setup soon in their other areas in the garden, etc? Love watching Yun Zi. He is so funny. He was pretty active on Saturday, Jan 5. Please have the camera up soon in the den and in the other areas? So Happy Xiao Liwu is so healthy and active.
Okay, everybody, close your eyes and do not look at this link…….it is just for Beverly, and her investigation of SKS NannyKeepers, tell me what you see.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ritapetita/4383477769/in/photostream
So sorry to be the one to show this to you….love grammmie
Okay, everybody can look at it, I am sure Beverly has seen it by now.
Gosh Yunnie looks so big… big baby, big baby kisses!?!
I thought this had been going on for a very long time! the SKS Nanny Keepers are experts at this now!! and the P. Bear babies do love them!!!
Thought SDZ had a cam in the Garden Room, I think I remember seeing Yun Zi playing in there when he was a cub ?? Do you still have the cam?
Has something happened to LiWu?
LeWu, we miss you!!!
Hi caretakers & Moderators, Just curious as to why we are not getting to see Mama Bai & Baby bear Wu very much and sometimes not at all? We are missing so much of Wu’s antics. Are mom & baby ok? It is fun watching Yun Zi do his tumbles and climbs, but can’t we alternate? Lots of times there is no light in the den, or we are just looking at trees. We do appreciate all of your hard work.
Thank you in advance.
Before I was cut off, I was asking if they thought Wu Wu knew hi s name?
Yunnie did soon after he came out. Does he know ‘mama? ‘He is such a go, ahead little guy. he climbed and ran around and tried different ways to sleep and ways to go and run and he is just a’! Adds to his personality”. How did he know to jump into the ring? Answer m e that? And to give a loving to a ball? With no treats inside? What a daredevil and charmer he is! Where did he learn what he knows so well already????
We have quite intelligent bears don’t we??? And they are born knowing how to play too!!! Love grammmie
About the ball he loves……if you give a cruise through some of the photo links I have been posting from 2 or 3 years ago you will see his big brother felt the same way, about what looks like the same ball, and same donut ring. The blue donut ring is usually with their big sister Zhen Zhen. She loved it too, but she could make her own toys out of soggy cardboard, some water, a moat and a bit of imagination. Su Lin, on the other hand could amuse herself all day just pulling down trees and rearranging her “furniture”. Love grammmie
Help we’re getting Xiao Liwu ( Master Wu ) Withdraw Symptoms as we’ve not seen him for a few days now… Please Cam Operators if he and Bai Yun are available you’ll make a lot of Pandholics Happy to see them …
I’ve been watching the NZ Andean Bear Den Camera as an alternate and if you watch the twin cubs and their Mothe Billy Jean you might want to turn the volume down as theeir shrieks can literally break glass…LOL At least these cubs brought the Smithsonian National Zoo some healing after the tragic death of Mei Xiangs Cub… The website for the den cam is :
nationalzoo (dot) si (dot) edu/Animals/Amazonia/AndeanBears/andean-bear-cam.cfm
Thank-You as you’ve made a lot of Pandaholics Happy tonight by putting the den camera back on when the staff left for the night

As my Wife is now again starting month 10 in the Hospital when ever we talk the first subject has been how are Bai Yun and Master Wu,Gao Gao and Yun Zi doing ?
I hope to know by the end of the upcoming week if the DVT Blood Clot is finally under control and when we can get her home and if she will be allowed to fly as we’ve been away from the SDZ since Yunior was born and hope to see our Animal and Human Friends real soon as her Main Doctors are in Newport Beach and the Company I now work for is located in Venice Beach..
We will be hoping with you Dennis, let us know when you can.
Hey, Dennis! I’m glad to see you writing back in to our comment page again! I hope you and your wife got thru Superstorm Sandy ok. I have also been praying for you and your wife because the both of you have had a long couple of years going back and forth to the hospital when your wife gets a setback on her health. I will continue to pray for her as she gets thru this latest hospital trial, and she can come home soon. Keep watching the pandacam and andeanbearcam! These little babies will put smiles on your faces every day because they are sooooo cute and adorable! All of your pandafan buddies love you!
Chari Mercier
St. Pete, FL
ok now it has been 2 days since I have seen my baby Wu.
I know that Bai is teaching Mr. Wu how to behave in public for his appearance this month, but I need my fix please. LOL
3:10 PM There are two smiling young ladies cleaning up Zun Zi’s exhibit and putting out a fresh supply of the choicest bamboo. Oh my goodness…where is Yun Zi during this time? How do they entice him out for this little bit of time?
In reality, it seems Yunnie is training the keepers
When Yun Zi or Gao Gao starts pacing the yard, and in Yun Zi’s case does body rolls, it is time for the keepers to come out to give the yard a spruce up.
It seems the captive panda bears around the world have learned their schedule and does a lot of “telling” the keepers it’s time for you to do the next thing on the schedule.
JUSY I never thought of it quite that way, but upon reflection I think you are 100% correct!!! Love grammmie
What a handsome boy Yun Zi has become
Please tell us that Bai and Liwu are OK — not seeing them for a while makes us pandafans nervous. I hope their absence on the cam just means that it won’t be long before we see them outside on exhibit!!!
Here’s hoping…
PLEASE TELL ME IF MY (LITTLE MAN) IS OKAY. CAUSE HE HAD FELL OUT OF THE TREE.. SO I HAVE NOT SEEN HIM FOR A FEWS DAYS.SO IS HE OKAY??????
Judy it is hard to remember that we did see for a few days after the fall, when we miss him so much, but we who saw him and HIH Bai Yun together last night are very satisfied. Below here there is a DoxieMom video of last night’s/early morning sleeping and romping in the den…enjoy…love grammmie.
THANK U VERY MUCH!!!!
So since we see nothing but Yun Zi’s darken area at night, am I to assume that Bai and Master Wu aren’t anywhere at all during the night so we can see them? I miss both of them so much! Not ready for the empty nest! Do they ever go in to the birthing den anymore? Signed… just curious!
I’m becoming worried from not seeing our baby in such a long time. I can’t watch 24/7 but I do keep my laptop on all night long but haven’t even seen him & mama in the night (when they can be so funny!). Please, is everything okay?
~Vickie~
Thank you so much – I can rest easy now :- )
Where is precious, sweet baby Wu Wu??
Is he sick and/or is there something wrong going on with him??
My heart is aching wanting and needing to see him!!
Is he with his mama??
Oh my goodness! Sunday night around 8PM here in San Diego…finally there is little Liwu. Boy, you don’t see him on cam for a few days then all of sudden he looks huge in the den! While I haven’t minded seeing Yunnie and Big Poppa most of the last week, it sure is good to see him. I’m hoping to see he and Bai Yun soon – in person!!
Some people have been frantic without him being on camera…but obviously all is well. Here’s hoping he will be in the Garden Room and north exhibit more often now (where there are cams).
SD Zoo – you are still doing a great job. Keep up the good work!
My boyfriend and I really miss seeing the little one (we lovingly call him Pandy). Can you please add more Pandy cams outside so we can see him and Momma? We miss them sooooooo much!
Those extra cams could be quite expensive, that is why there are fewer since we switched to High Def Cams. The difference in quality is worth fewer cams. Love grammmie
yay, Mr. Xiao Li Wu is rolling around in the den. he looks so big. he must have been an active boy panda these last few days.
Oh, TY, TY, TY for turning the cam on the den tonight. Made my heart happy to see mom and chubby cubby together! Had missed them so much!
9:50 pm – Little Wu Wu is being a total brat! Sitting on mommy’s head, biting her chin, her paws, her everythings. She bites him right back and sends him ‘flying’ with a big paw. He keeps coming back for more. Laughs … maybe he needs a mid-night snack? He doesn’t seem interested in nursing – just misbehaving. Cute play but I don’t think Bai Yun thinks so; I think she’s more interested in her beauty sleep!
Awwwwwwww so cute how mom and the lil one are sleeping….getting kinda tight fit in the den..ya think they will be moving to the bedrm soon? if so, will the cam be on that?. the den looks so cozy with the hay, etc to lay on..i assume the bedrm has just cement floor?
Panda Fans : no taking the trouble ! I see Bai Yun et Xiao Liwu sleeping quietly in the den. So cute !
I, too saw it live during the Californian night hours, wasn’t it fun watching? Love grammmie
Hello, I’m so happy to see Bay yun and her baby in the den… They are both sleeping it looks like now…It’s cold here in San Diego and raining! so Bay Yun is keeping her baby warm…Thank you for all you do for the pandas, you are special people !!! All of you who take care of the animals…
Is Doxie Mom on vacation? I miss her videos. It won’t be lond before little one goes on exhibit will it?
Moderator has a date been set yet for his debut?
Moderator’s note: Yes. Details will be posted later today.
Tanda, Doxiemom needs a break now and then. Watching and editing all these hour of activity I assume can be tiring. Add to that little chance to see Bai, and Mr. Wuuuu and perhaps she took a break from the work. She has been quite active of late, I have never seen so many of her videos at one time as she has produced lately. Now that I have said all of that she will probably post a whole bunch of footage. Whatever she can do is always welcomed by us Panda Nuts…love grammmie
Did I say Doxiemom doesn’t deserve time off? I just ask a polite question.
Tanda I am sorry if I offended, I was making a general statement meant for everybody. Some of the great fans who give so much to us are sometimes mistaken as paid employees or the amount of work they do is mistaken as easy. I would have no idea how to do what she does because I am computer challenged. Some folks do what they do for themselves, but then kindly share it with us, then get pressured for more. I hope you will forgive me, sometimes people share how they feel with me (not Doxiemom since we don’t communicate as individuals), but having heard about these feelings from mutual friends I think I stuck my big toe in where it did not belong. I will try to not do that in the future…love grammmie
I just watched a BBC Documentart called “BBC natural World-The Panda Makers”. It is on you tube so if my link doesn’t work you can search you tube for it. It is a nice long video,l but I didn’t time it…enjoy…..love grammmie
p.s. I feel so lucky, I cruised the panda cam on my way here, Bai and Mr. Wuuuu are in residence in the den.
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=bb3epqISWnI&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dbb3epqISWnI
Thank you, Grammie, for providing the link. The link you provide will be hard for those that are on pc’s as it is a “mobile” device link vs. “desktop” link.
For those who want to watch that video via their computers, try this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb3epqISWnI
Thank You both for the links. It’s almost unbelievable how many frienly persons there are on these conversations.
JUSY thank you so much, I had no idea they could be so equipment specific, even though I have clicked on some that said we had to use a PC, but had no idea how it is. If we are offered two links for the same thing perhaps we should put both of them in the comments….love grawmmmie
I just watched Bai step out for a few minutes from the den. My hopes were high that since Wuuuu was across the door that she would summersault over him like she did with Yunior. Sorry, no luck, she laid down near him, then grabbed him and stretched him along her belly–she is using him as a belly warmer. What things these pandas do when they think you are not looking!!! Love grammmie
So happy to see Live Cam with Bai & Wu sleeping comfortably together again!
OH ! Happy Morning!!!!!
:)
Yipeee!!!!
‘Our” precious little darlin’ Wuuu and Mom are on the Panda Cam right now!!
6:48 AM EST.
They are sleeping but that’s fine with me. Am SO Happy to see him!
Golly! L.O.V.E. that little guy!
Hope everybody has a Great Day!
I don’t know how or why the panda cam was changed so late at night/or early morning, but I sure am glad to thank you for doing it. I have been watching them sleep for the better part of two hours, and was never so happy to be awake most of the night. Thank You…..love grammmie
HIH Bai Yun left for outside again for just a few minutes then I tried to make the Wuuuu man be her belly warmer again. This time he wasn’t going to play the part, he knew what she was up to…..love grammmie
It’s fantastic to see little Wu and mum in den again .My husband and I were at the SD zoo on new years day and saw GaoGao and yun Zi but we were sorry not to see Bai Yun and Wu.We did speak to one of the keepers who was wonderful she explained all about Wu and mum and said it would be a few weeks yet till we see Wu outside . So it was a wee bit sad not to see him and mum ,as we came all the way from Dumfries in Scotland but we did have a lovely day at the zoo x x
Now that the time is nearing come on back, and we will try to teach King Fluffy Butt to wave just to you. How does that sound? Love grammmie
(I just do not know why people say I have a silly sense of humor.)
Well, Grammie, I for my part love your humour!
It’s 9:08 am est, and Mama just gave Master Wu a piggyback ride!!! He was hanging on for dear life, having the best time!!! So much fun to watch.
I wish I had caught that…but I get so wrapped up. So much Yakity yakiting that I would have trouble keeping up……love grammmie
Finally, after withdrawals a wonderful play session a little after 6am this morning with Xiao Liwu. Took lots of photos!
Was wonderful to see Bai Yun and Xiao Liwu in a long play/bath/feeding session this morning. They have been missed a lot by many of us. I hope Doxie Mom got a video of it for those who didn’t see it. I would be happy to be able to watch it again.
After a fun wrestling match both Bai and Wuuuu left the den, probably for breakfast. I hope the gang on the east coast tuned in to checked in and enjoy our pandas for a while. This is the first night I have not minded being awake at these hours since I got to see our missing kids sleep and play. I hope some early risers out here tuned in in time to see them too. Maybe the worst is over and we will get to see them part of every day. Good morning to everybody………love grammmie
Observe the relationship with Bai Yun Xiao Liwu is like being in a session of relaxation or therapy! Delicious and hilarious!
6am PT Monday morning: Xiao Liwu, with his baby teeth and sharp little claws clings to his mother like Velcro during this 9 minute play session (sped up a bit). Bai Yun, at 21 years of age, defies her age and spends most of the time on her head, and contorting into positions to challenge Xiao Liwu’s hold on her, even standing up at one point, and he just held on! Just too much fun
2013-01-07 Xiao Liwu’s Like Velcro, He Sticks to Bai Yun!

Thank you Matt for the 20th Exam highlights, adorable video and the growth chart!
DoxieMom you are the best.
Thank so so much for the video! I got fix in for awhile. Poor Bai she needs more room to play with Mr. Wu. He is getting to big.
You are such a darling, DoxieMom. I was enjoying my sleep while these antics were happening. Thank you for making sure I did not miss anything.
One of my young relatives said, when she saw that video, that it was precisely like in their bedroom in the mornings with their three year old girl. She said she feels like standing on her head sometimes, too.
My heartstrings sing when we get to see Xiao LiWu in the morning. Thank you SDZ.
Viewing Yunzi right now in his tree.. How cute he is!
LOOK at precious YunZi taking a nap in the tree. He’s growing into a big boy. Smiles!!!!!
I woke up this morning around 3:00 am CST and tuned into the den. There was Bai Yun giving Wu a smack down. He was grabbing onto her back with his teeth and she would reach back with her paw and smack him. One of the smacks was really hard. He still didn’t give up what he was doing so she used her squash routine. She would roll against the wall and squash him. Finally she resorted to the if you bite me I’ll bite you back routine. Wu was trying to make a run for the exit but she kept dragging him back and taking a nip out of him. I hate to see what is in store for him in the way of discipline as he gets more and more rambunctious.
I have sat on Yunnie when he was too rambunctious. Ahem, Mamas have to do the necessary otherwise the cubbies get out of control. Thanks for your concern.
Missy Bai
Today, cold and rainy, Yunza was not happy. But along came a family with a little boy who talked to Yunnie, laughed with yunnie and waved and Yunnie came alive. he did somersaults, ran around and paid attention to the family and the little boy. From depressed and sad to happy from time with a little boy who was happy to see him. That is what the animals love to see. Laughter and joy on the visitors.no quiet , no talking, and no interaction. Wake up people.!! Say hello to the animals, they are there for you. So be there for them. Talk to the animals. Laugh and wave and be like little kids.Enjoy them and let them enjoy you too!!!
When is Yunnie getting his swing back? He has no toys to play with.
Sorry I see it now…lol
If I had a nice hammock like YunZi I would be taking a nap in the sun also. His hiney can’t measure up to Bai’s though. These camera shots make me smile and love living.
Hello There, Yun Zi’s beloved green hammock is ripping and nearly completely torn away at one of the corners we can see on the live webcam. Also, it is sagging so low from his weight am wondering if you can repair it or replace it and hoist it up higher for his comfort, enjoyment and safety?
Thank you very much from Hawaii
If we need a new hammock perhaps the fans can share the cost like we have done before for other items. It is a fun way for folks of limited means to participate in fundraising, the task goes fast, and we all get to enjoy the ourselves. Is there anybody out there ready to look into this????? Love grammmie
Grammmie, Count me in… where or who do I call? Let me know and consider it done!
P. Bear Hugggs,
Beverly
I’ve got a few pennies to spare, let me know where they can be sent.
I wish Yun Zi’s hammock was positioned so that we could see his face instead of his behind. Altho pandas do have *modesty tail*.
I always felt pandas looked like they are wearing diapers and I want to give them love pats on their tushies!
If you get that close to do that just go with it, you deserve the chance, just count your handse, arms, fingerse, etc…….love grammmie
Betty,
You go in, give them some little love pats on their tushies and let us know how it goes, we’ll be waiting!! Then Grammmie and I will follow!!!
P. Bear Huggs,
Beverly
If you are ready to take a reading break here is a cute video link of Bai Yun & Prince Royal Fluffy Butt (Yun Zi) when he was less than a year old. I am not sure If the attraction was for food or play, but I think HIH Bai Yun was determined to win in the end. Pay close attention to his dismounts from wooden apparatus he looks like a charming addition to the Pandalympics Team. He was lighter then, so I am not sure he can perform at this level at this time. Love grammmie
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ayVlvYAExhE&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DayVlvYAExhE
Watching this video, and any other of Missy Bai’s cub videos are sure entertaining ( gives one’s heart full of joy… and I think a very good de-stresser)! This one sure got lots of laughs from me… Thanks for sharing, Grammie.
Do you think the pandacam will be able to support all of us cam watchers on Thursday at 9:30 am?! I know I’ll be watching. Thank you for the posting of the times. Since I can’t be there in person, I’ll be glued to the computer screen!
Moderator’s note: I hope so!
Hmmmmmm… maybe not showing Bai and Wu on the PandaCam for a while was a clever way to build up eager anticipation for seeing him in the flesh on Thursday!!! YAY!! Can’t wait.
P.S. Moderator: Is there a better cam in the North Exhibit area now? I remember the old one was pretty bad…
Moderator’s note: Yes, we just installed an HD cam there. Hurray!
Lovely Dear Moderator, one important little thing got left out…..WHAT TIME?
And wil there be a press special preview the day before, like there was with Yun Zi? We would need an approximate time for that too…..love grammmie
Moderator’s note: The exhibit will open to Zoo guests at 9:30 a.m. Yes, there will be a media preview the day before, and our photographer and videographer will be there to record the action.
Well I can’t seem to get to exactly where I want to, but that is okay, I am finding great stuff along the way. This is not my usual photographer, but he is well thought of by my fav, so when I found these two pages I thought the rest of you might enjoy seeing them too. They are of Yun Zi, Su Lin, and ZZ. Enjoy, love grammmie

Mr. Top Model 2013 posing for the public.
I got a message from the Moderator that my link didn’t work. So here is another one. Hope it’s working.
https://picasaweb.google.com/home?hl=fi&tab=wq
Only that now I fear that Yun Zi’s rank as Mr. Top Model is sincerely challenged, when Young Master Wu is making his debut!
Moderator’s note: I think readers have to sign in to see the photo kristina is linking to.
