Hi! My name is Eleanor and I’m currently a senior in high school. Starting off as an intern in the San Diego Zoo’s Education Department helping out with summer camp, I was intensely excited to be invited to participate in the Zoo’s winter session of InternQuest. As a self proclaimed “nature freak,” I enjoy learning about both marine and terrestrial animals and spend much of my time by the beach studying tide-pool life.

I would like to say that I’ve always been fascinated by animals and how they behave, but I haven’t really. In preschool I desperately wanted to be a Power Ranger but unable to achieve these dreams I instead choose to be an artist or racecar driver. Unfortunately, my qualifications for these jobs were also lacking due to the fact that I, a) can only draw stick figures, and b) can’t drive. It wasn’t until later in life that I realized my interest in animals and thus decided to begin volunteering at non-profit organizations, working mainly with marine life.

Unsurprisingly, my favorite subject in school is biology and I hope to study it more in college. My dream job involves either becoming a female David Attenborough or trekking across the planet studying nature for National Geographic.

When not obsessing over plants and animals I can usually be found hanging out with my friends and family or reading a book with my favorite doggies.
